RUT SEASON

Tailor made sessions, at sunrise and sunset, to photograph and learn about the wildlife of the Abruzzo National Park.

Early autumn is the peak of the rut in the Abruzzo National Park. During this period, male red deer compete for control of the herd, and their distinctive roaring call echoes through the beech forests in the early morning and at dusk — the best times for photography, with low, raking light and temperatures that often produce mist.

On this workshop I'll take you to the most reliable observation points of the area, selected based on over ten years of field experience. The experience combines stakeouts sessions and on-foot photography, allowing us to adapt to changing light and take advantage of the best photographic opportunities . Besides the rutting deer, we'll have chances to spot foxes, wolves and — with a bit of luck — the Marsican brown bear, still active before winter hibernation.

The experience is limited to a small group, to ensure a quieter, more focused experience in the field and better access to wildlife.

An experience designed for those who want to combine photographic technique with knowledge of animal behavior, in one of Italy's best-preserved natural environments.
